Embark on a divine journey through the Pancharama Kshetras, the five ancient temples in Andhra Pradesh where Lord Shiva is worshipped as Arameswara. These shrines — Amaralingeswara (Amaravathi), Draksharamam, Somarama (Bhimavaram), Ksheerarama (Palakollu), and Kumararama (Samalkot) — hold immense mythological and architectural significance. According to legend, after Lord Kumaraswamy destroyed the demon Tarakasura, his powerful Shiva Lingam was divided into five pieces that fell across these locations, forming the Pancharamas. This 7-day sacred yatra lets devotees immerse in spiritual serenity, temple rituals, and Andhra’s traditional culture. With scenic countryside drives, holy riverfronts, and centuries-old Dravidian architecture, this pilgrimage blends devotion with the state’s heritage — making it a perfect soul-stirring journey for Shiva devotees.
Arrive at Vijayawada, one of Andhra’s busiest and most sacred cities. Meet our representative and transfer to your hotel. Visit Kanaka Durga Temple on Indrakeeladri Hill, overlooking the Krishna River. Enjoy the panoramic city view and the temple’s divine evening aarti. Stroll through Gandhi Hill and local markets before dinner. Overnight stay in Vijayawada.;
After breakfast, drive to Amaravathi, located on the banks of River Krishna. Visit Amaralingeswara Swamy Temple, the first of the five Pancharamas, dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple’s Shiva Lingam is believed to grow taller each year and is worshipped with milk and ghee. Explore the nearby Amaravati Stupa, one of India’s oldest Buddhist relics. Spend your evening by the Krishna River before returning to Vijayawada for an overnight stay.;
Depart early for Draksharamam, about 170 km away. Visit the grand Draksharama Bheemeswara Swamy Temple, one of the largest and most intricately designed temples of Andhra Pradesh, often called Dakshina Kasi. Dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Manikyamba, it features two-tiered sanctums and magnificent stone carvings. Attend the evening Rudrabhishekam and experience the temple’s divine vibrations. Overnight stay in Draksharamam/Rajahmundry.;
After breakfast, head to Samalkot (about 45 km). Visit Kumararama Bhimeswara Swamy Temple, where the Shiva Lingam is partially submerged in water — symbolizing the cosmic balance of life. The temple’s 9-story gopuram showcases exquisite Dravidian craftsmanship. Spend time learning about the Pancharama legends from temple priests. Return to Rajahmundry for an evening walk along the Godavari Bridge and overnight stay.;
Drive towards Palakollu (about 110 km). Visit Ksheerarama Temple, where Lord Shiva is worshipped as Ksheera Ramalingeswara Swamy. The name “Ksheera” (milk) symbolizes purity — it’s believed the Lingam here emerged from the ocean of milk. Visit nearby Dwaraka Tirumala Temple (also known as Chinna Tirupati) before returning to Palakollu. Evening free for leisure and overnight stay.;
Today, visit Bhimavaram, home to Somarama Temple, the last of the Pancharamas. This temple is unique because the Shiva Lingam changes color with the phases of the moon — a truly mystical sight. Visit the adjoining shrine of Goddess Annapurna and enjoy the peaceful temple atmosphere. After darshan, explore the local market and traditional sweet shops. Overnight stay in Bhimavaram.;
After breakfast, drive back to Vijayawada. If time permits, visit Undavalli Caves, famous for their rock-cut architecture and reclining Vishnu sculpture. Later, transfer to Vijayawada airport or railway station for your onward journey. Your Pancharama Kshetra Yatra concludes with blessings from Lord Shiva and a heart full of peace and devotion.;
